Small Scale Enhancements

Subsidiary to the main LEADER Programme is the Small Scale Enhancements (SSE) Scheme.  This part of the programme is open until 2013 and has not closed.

The aim of the project is to co-ordinate and deliver small scale community projects which have been highlighted by members of the community. Support is available for projects up to a total cost of £7,500 and is available for communities within the North York Moors National Park, Ryedale (Howardian Hills AONB and north of the River Derwent), East Cleveland and Scarborough Rural.  The scheme primarily focuses on rural development projects under the following LEADER programme theme;

→ Conservation and upgrading of the rural heritage – aimed at increasing the understanding of our working landscape and helping to protect traditional skills by raising awareness through interpretation, appreciation and maintenance of local heritage and cultural features.

There is also an opportunity for a small number of village renewal and development projects to be supported.  These are typically projects that enhance the local village environment, strengthen and generate community cohesion or encourage community activities and village events.

What can the Small Scale Enhancements Scheme do for your community?

The main purpose of the SSE Scheme is to benefit rural communities with projects and ideas which are generated from the heart of your community. Therefore if your community, Parish Council or local interest group have any small scale village or environmental plans, or plans relating to heritage features then the SSE Scheme may provide a fantastic opportunity to implement your ideas.

How can I get support?

If you have a project, or even just an idea, you are encouraged to contact the appropriate Scheme Co-ordinator who will request a Project Idea Form to be submitted and is available to help you through the process.  To find out more about each scheme please follow the links below.
