The North York Moors, Coast and Hills LEADER Programme

The North York Moors, Coast and Hills area covers the North York Moors National Park, the Howardian Hills AONB, the rural part of Redcar and Cleveland, and the northern part of the Vale of Pickering. 

The Programme has been awarded £3.1 million between 2009 and 2014 as part of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) to support rural community based projects and initiatives within 4 main themes:

  • Basic Services for the economy and rural population
  • Village renewal and development
  • Encouragement of tourism activities
  • Conservation and upgrading of the rural heritage
