Local Action Group
A short summary from each of the Local Action Group events can be found below along with any presentations, notes or additional information.
6th October 2011
For our autumn Local Action Group event this year we teamed up with the LEADER funded Sustainable Community Halls project, run by Rural Action Yorkshire and Tees Valley Rural Community Council, who were also holding their annual community buildings conference at Hovingham Village Hall. The event was a huge success with more than 50 delegates attending to hear from two successful LEADER funded community buidlings projects (Saltburn Methodist Church and Hovingham Village Hall), and from Peter Bryan (TVRCC), Charlotte Harrison of Mass Architects and Susan McCartney from Co2Conut.
There was added excitment to the day when Radio York arrived to interview Rob Thompson of Hovingham Village Hall and several others to ask why their village hall was so important. Their interviews were broadcast later that afteroon on Radio York - see if you can find them....!
5th April 2011
We held our sixth Local Action Group event in the beautiful surroundings of Wydale Hall near Brompton by Sawdon. The event was an opportunity to update the LAG on the current position of the programme both in terms of activity and levels of spend; and was followed with two well received presentations by LEADER funded projects - Rosie Hughes from the Sustainable Communities project, and David Stockdale from the Community Library and Archive at Ryedale Folk Museum. The LAG were also asked to reflect on the programme to date and provided feedback on what lessons needed to be learnt in both the short and long term. The information provided will feed into the mid-term evaluation of the programme which is currently underway led by programme staff with the close involvement of the Executive Group.
4th November 2010

The November LAG event provided information about both the claims process, and press and publicity for projects that have been funded or part funded by the North York Moors, Coast and Hills LEADER Programme. A range of information and guidance sheets from the event are now available on the publicity and promotion page of the website. Malcolm Bowes, Chair of the Executive Group also provided a summary of programme progress to date and some the first project video clips to be completed were shown to the sudience.

14th April 2010

This event focused on celebrating the success of those projects funded to date by the LEADER programme. Over 20 projects were able to attend and provided some fantastic displays for members of the LAG and Executive Group to see how well they were progressing and what had been achieved. A review of the first year of the programme has been undertaken and LAG members were asked to provide their comments and feedback on a variety of questions raised by this process. The information provided will be used to help guide and steer decisions the Executive Group will make over the next year. Finally a presenation on hints and tips for promoting your project was given by Phil Bustard, Executive Group member and Marketing and External Affairs Manager at the North York Moors Railway.

In order to ensure strong direction was given to the newly formed Executive Group, the LAG meeting considered a range of issues that it might want the Executive to take into account when promoting the LEADER programme and making decisions on applications. The LAG split up into 10 workshop discussion groups (each including new Executive Group members) and considered 7 key questions. Please download the following attachments outlining the workshop programme and feedback from the discussion groups.
