The North York Moors, Coast and Hills LEADER Programme

The North York Moors, Coast and Hills area covers the North York Moors National Park, the Howardian Hills AONB, the rural part of Redcar and Cleveland, and the northern part of the Vale of Pickering. 

£280,000 of Additional Funding for the North York Moors, Coast and Hills LEADER Programme

As a result of the success of our LEADER Programme over the last 3 years we have secured an additional £280,000 from Defra.  This was the highest amount awarded nationally and means we are the best performing LEADER programme in England which is fantastic news for our area! 

After consideration by the wider Local Action Group and the approval of the Executive Group, we have decided to allocate some of this money to the Small Scale Enhancement Schemes to allow them to support even more small projects with up to £5,000, and to re-open the main programme for new applications!  Please see the LEADER Priorities pages of our website for details of the priorities under which we are looking for new applications - http://www.moorscoastandhills.org.uk/our-leader-priorities/.

Overall the Programme has been awarded £3.1 million between 2009 and 2014 as part of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) to support rural community based projects and initiatives within 4 main themes.  To date the programme's resources have been allocated to more than 180 projects across the area through both the main programme and the Small Scale Enhancements Scheme for projects looking for less than £5,000.  Further information on the Small Scale Enhancement Schemes can be found here.
