Hovingham Village Hall and Community Project

Hovingham Village Hall

To extend and improve facilities and activities available to the community including the creation of improved youth facilities, a local producers market, and a series of taster events and new activities such as cooking classes, Pilates, regular coffee mornings and computer courses.

Linden Close Wildlife Area
Sleights, North Yorkshire

Linden Close Wildlife Area

To restore and maintain a currently derelict area to improve the biodiversity of the area.  Work will include the establishment of a wildflower area, creation of an outdoor classroom facility, restoration of the pond, hedgerows and bridge, a pond dipping platform and the installation of bird and bat boxes.

Horizons
Bridge 30, North York Moors Railway

To restore bridge 30 on the North York Moors Railway and to develop a programme of activity based on improving access, understanding and interpretation of local heritage.

Ingham Play Area
Sleights, North Yorkshire

Ingham Play Play Completed - January 2011

To provide a play area on a currently un-used site in Sleights.  Whilst the majority of the scheme is focused on the provision of suitable play equipment, an element of the project is also concerned with ensuring the area is well maintained and suitable to be used by the whole community.

The Revitalisation of Fylingdales Village Hall
Robin Hoods Bay, North Yorkshire

Outside of Fylingdales Village Hall

Improvements to the building will be made to allow a number of number bookings, events and activities to be held in the hall such as a new luncheon club, a cookery club for younger residents and early years education.  The hall will also feature some elements of renewable technology including a bio mass boiler.

New seating area at Hovingham Village Hall

The success of phase 1 has resulted in further demand for activities in the village hall including a photographic exhibition, a gentle exercise group for older residents and the creation of an outside seating area including notice boards and local information panels for visitors.

Husthwaite Young Children’s Play Area

The opening of Husthwaite Recreation Area

The new facilities will provide a safe play area for young children, along with a grassed area to promote a range of activities including cricket, rounders and informal play.

The project will work with communities in the area to understand their carbon footprint, act on climate change, reduce fuel poverty and improve the natural environment over a two year period.

East Cleveland Minibus Brokerage Scheme
East Cleveland

The project will establish a minibus brokerage scheme within East Cleveland.  Minibus owning organisations in the area will be invited to join the scheme which will utilise their vehicle during its ‘down’ time and generate extra income for the group.

Rural Financial Inclusion
North Yorkshire

The aim of the project is to increase the wealth, economic resilience and strength of rural communities in the North Yorkshire part of the LEADER area by providing access to financial services to people who are currently financially excluded. The project will build a network of community based partnerships delivering the opportunity for local organisations and people to join the credit union.

Littlebeck Village Hall

This project is to build an extension to the Village Hall to enable increased usage.  The project will also cater for the population of campers and holidaymakers who come to Littlebeck for its isolated beauty, with more frequent activities which will attract them.

Sustainable Energy Project (Saltburn Methodist Church)
Saltburn, East Cleveland 

Outside of Saltburn Methodit Church

The project will primarily reduce the carbon footprint of the building through significant energy saving measures. The project also seeks to satisfy latent demand for the hall as an affordable fit-for-purpose venue for community groups of all ages and plans to deliver increased activity in underused parts of the hall, making it more sustainable by increasing occupancy rates at the same time as lowering running costs.
