Alternative Sources of Funding

Raising additional funding for your project is often essential but can be a difficult task.  Many funding programmes, including LEADER, will encourage applicants to source as much match funding towards their project as they can.  The following list of funding bodies may help you make a start.

Awards For All
Grants of between £300 and £10,000 are available to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need.

Changing Spaces: Sustainable Community Energy Programme
The programme will help community based organisations in England to reduce their environmental impact through the installation of energy saving measures and micro generation technologies.

Changing Spaces: Community Spaces
The programme is able to support community groups who want to improve local green spaces such as play areas, community gardens, wildlife areas and path improvements.

Reaching Communities
Reaching Communities will fund projects that help people and communities and respond to needs identified.  Projects can be new or existing, or be the core work of your organisation.

Places People Play - New Funding Opportunity for Voluntary and Community Groups
Community and voluntary organisations are able to apply for grants worth between £20,000 and £50,000, with the first round of funding running from 1st August to 28th September 2011. Designed to be as accessible as possible, the fund is ideal for small community groups who might have previously been put off from applying for public money.

The Sustainable Development Fund provides financial support to projects that bring social, environmental and economic benefits to the National Park.

The Sustainable Development Fund provides financial support to projects that bring social, environmental and economic benefits to the AONB.

Heritage Lottery Fund
Has a range of funding programme including Your Heritage, Your Roots, Heritage Grants and Repair Grants for Places of Worship.

Sport England Small Grants Scheme
Grants of between £300 and £10,000 are available for projects that support local community sport projects that seek to increase participation, sustain participation or develop opportunities for people to excel.  Other Sport England grants are also available.
