Welcome

The North York Moors, Coast and Hills LEADER Programme

The North York Moors, Coast and Hills area covers the North York Moors National Park, the Howardian Hills AONB, the rural part of Redcar and Cleveland, and the northern part of the Vale of Pickering.

£280,000 of Additional Funding for the North York Moors, Coast and Hills LEADER Programme

As a result of the success of our LEADER Programme over the last 3 years we have secured an additional £280,000 from Defra.  This was the highest amount awarded nationally and means we are the best performing LEADER programme in England which is fantastic news for our area!

The Executive Group met during August and October 2012 to make decisions on applications received for this final round of funding.  A further 12 projects were supoprted, including a new Small Scale Enhancement Scheme for Hambleton.  This now brings the total number of projects supported through the main LEADER programme to 65.

Overall the Programme has been awarded £3.2 million between 2009 and 2014 as part of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) to support rural community based projects and initiatives within 4 main themes.  To date the programme's resources have been allocated to more than 240 projects across the area through both the main programme and the Small Scale Enhancements Scheme for projects looking for less than £5,000.  Further information on the Small Scale Enhancement Schemes can be found here.
